It was a moment of joy for Nigerian’s when the newly acquired Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) THUNDER arrived at the Naval Base Jetty, Apapa, Lagos on 5 January 2012. The arrival of NNS THUNDER is in line with Nigerian Navy transformation effort, especially fleet renewal as contained in the transformation plan approved by the Navy Board on the 28 November 2011. The warship was acquired from the Coast Guard primarily to checkmate piracy and sea robbery in the Gulf of Guinea.
